CEO Parker Praises Funding for Priority Project on Rochester Community Coalition Agenda

"We at the Rochester Business Alliance are very pleased to hear that Gov. Cuomo will announce a $100 million investment in the I-390/Kendrick Road project.

This project, which will make improvements to key interchanges that will ease congestion and improve safety in the area, has been a priority for the Rochester Community Coalition for the last two years. The project will also enable several, new private developments and planned expansions at the University of Rochester, Rochester Institute of Technology and Monroe Community College to go forward. The Center for Governmental Research estimated that this infrastructure will be instrumental in institutional growth and business development that could add more than 20,000 direct and indirect jobs to the region over the next 20 years. The construction phase alone will create more than 850 jobs (both direct and indirect) and $42 million in labor income.

The Rochester Community Coalition, convened by the Rochester Business Alliance, is a group of community leaders representing business, local government, education, labor and nonprofits. The coalition identified this project as a top priority for state investment in 2010 and continued to advocate for it in 2011. The Community Coalition thanks Gov. Cuomo for recognizing the importance of this project to job creation in our region".
