Member Spotlight: Cutting Edge Laser Technologies

Cutting Edge Laser Technologies was founded in 2001 with a simple mission: To help Veterinary professionals integrate technology that can improve patient care while improving their bottom line. "Our focus started exclusively with surgical lasers for veterinarians and has been expanded to several types of lasers for veterinarians, podiatrists, pain management specialists, chiropractors, physical therapists, and orthopedic surgeons," said Mark Mollenkopf, president of Cutting Edge. Cutting Edge has 40 employees, half of whom are located in Rochester. Within the last 18 months, the company expanded outside the veterinary market with a newly formed medical division.

What's New at Cutting Edge
Cutting Edge recently introduced the M6 MLS Therapy Laser within its medical division. The M6 Therapy Laser is considered by many industry experts to be most advanced therapy laser on the market. "The technology is validated by solid research conducted over the past two decades," Mollenkopf said. "The clinical results achieved by our doctors have been outstanding. The M6 Therapy Laser is delivered to the patient using an advanced robotic delivery system. The person administering the therapy can set the laser up for treatment, begin the therapy, and leave the room to attend to other patients."

Challenges
The biggest challenges Mollenkopf sees revolve around recruiting and personnel. "We have significant opportunities in our existing markets and have several strategic initiatives under way that provide for diversification, revenue growth, and improved customer satisfaction. Our ability to achieve our VISION 2015 goals will depend on our ability to fi nd, recruit and retain the best talent available in the marketplace."

Cutting Edge Laser Technologies, a member of the Rochester Business Alliance for more than seven years, gets tremendous value for its membership, Mollenkopf said. "There are three keys areas I see value from the RBA. First, it is very valuable for us to be able to review regional benchmarking data for both HR trends as well as compensation within the region. Second, we are able to stay current with the ever-changing HR laws such as their Employer's Guide to New York State Labor Laws. Third, we are active in supporting the RBA public policy actions that continue to fight for the interests of small business both locally and in Albany. The RBA has been very effective in helping to shape pro-business public policy," Mollenkopf said.
