Leaders of the Rochester Community Coalition, a group of businesses, labor unions, academic institutions, faith communities, local government and nonprofit organizations, met Feb. 25 with elected officials in Albany today to discuss projects important to the Rochester community. The coalition is seeking state investment for several key projects - including equitable AIM funding and mandate relief for Rochester, the Institute for Sustainability at RIT, Renaissance Square, investments in education initiatives and child care for low-income families, and support for a proposal that will boost regional industry and increase state revenue. The coalition also spoke with state leaders about infrastructure projects important to our region and the need to ensure upstate receives its fair share of stimulus funding.

With the upcoming budget deadline, it is more important than ever that we make our voices heard with legislators. In the coming weeks, we will be organizing an e-advocacy campaign that will allow you to show your support for these initiatives. The Rochester region is struggling - we need your help to restore growth and prosperity to our city.
