The Rochester Hispanic Business Association, an affiliate of the Rochester Business Alliance, honored Hiram Hernandez, Sr., founder and CEO of First Capital Payments, as its 2008 Rochester Hispanic Business Person of the Year. The award was given at a luncheon Thursday (Sept. 25) at the Riverside Convention Center, attended by about 300 people.
First Capital Payments is a member service provider for Visa and MasterCard Associations, the first of its class in upstate NY. First Capital Payments sets up and maintains the credit card payment systems for more than 2,000 members and processes more than $15 million dollars a month. Hernandez is a member of the Board of Directors of the Rochester Hispanic Youth Baseball League and has led his company's participation in the Rochester Works Youth Program.
