We asked Marc Fiore, President, to talk about his business.

Question: Tell me briefly about Mindex Technologies
Fiore: This is our 14th year in business. We formed originally as a software development company with less than five employees. We have sharpened our service focus and have grown consistently through the years.

Question: What services do you provide?
Fiore: We have two primary divisions; one is an Information Technology Professional Services Division through which we offer custom IT services for completely managed turnkey solutions as well as for customer managed solutions. We can do this work at the client site as chosen by clients such as Kodak, Xerox and Paychex or in our off-site development center or a combination of both.

Our other division focuses on the sale and support of schooltool, a student management system, to New York State schools. Currently, local school districts that are using our product include Brighton, East Rochester, Gates Chili, Honeoye Falls, Fairport and Wheatland. We are also at many other schools across the state.

Question: What does it mean to your business to be recognized by the Rochester Business Alliance as one of Rochester's Top 100 Companies?
Fiore: The level of business we are generating is strong enough to impact our local economy and proves we are growing and thriving. It is a much desired honor for us to make this list and we hope to do it again this year.

Question: What additional services can the Rochester Business Alliance provide to help your business?
Fiore: We are looking forward to the enhanced networking services the RBA provides. Many of our relationships have developed into business opportunities for us and we see a real value in networking.

Question: What signs of optimism do you see in the local economy?
Fiore: There are new openings for our IT Professionals daily and there are more new local companies that we are doing business with.

Question: What are the biggest opportunities you see ahead, as well as the biggest challenges?
Fiore: There are so many new and innovative companies on the local Rochester scene and our opportunities lie in working with these companies. While we continue to grow, the biggest challenges are meeting these job openings with qualified and talented people. Finding and then attracting this talent to Rochester from other cities is a challenge.

Question: What advice do you have for someone starting a new company?
Fiore:Do your homework and plan for all positive and negative outcomes that can occur.
