We asked William K. Pollock, PE, president and CEO, to talk about his business.

Question: What were the major obstacles you overcame to get your business off the ground?
Pollock: When you start any company you have no credibility. It takes time to establish who you are and what you can do for clients. It took me 9 months to get my first contract.

Question: What does it mean to your business to be on the on the Top 100?
Pollock: It means we are meeting our growth goals.

Question:What do you utilize your Rochester Business Alliance membership for?
Pollock:We are not a heavy user of RBA services. Primarily we use networking and meeting people.

Question:With offices around the country and overseas, what has kept your headquarters here in Rochester?
Pollock:We started in Rochester and for the present it meets our needs well.

Question:What signs of optimism do you see in the local economy?
Pollock:The energy effort is positive. We believe the that the way that Kodak has diversified and sold off the various divisions will ultimately be a positive thing as the new companies begin to grow.

Question:What are the biggest opportunities you see ahead, as well as the biggest challenges?
Pollock:Most of our biggest opportunities are to bring work to Rochester from our other locations and national clients. The depth of technical resources in Rochester has given us an advantage from the skills and cost perspective.
