The Women's Council of the Rochester Business Alliance presented its 2007 ATHENA Award to Patricia K. Malgieri.
Malgieri,
deputy mayor of the city of Rochester, received the award at the 21st
annual ATHENA Awards luncheon attended by almost 1,000 people today
(Jan. 24) at the Rochester Riverside Convention Center. She was chosen
for the award from a field of 20 finalists nominated by the community.
"I
incredibly respect the award and the women who are up for it today,"
Malgieri said in accepting the award. "I am incredibly grateful and
humbled by this award."
The award is given annually to a local
professional woman who has demonstrated significant achievements in
business, community service and the professional advancement of women.
Those nominating Malgieri cited her success in strengthening and
developing the Center for Governmental Research during her 12 years as
its chief executive. Also cited was her extensive community service as
well as her behind-the-scenes leadership on key community issues.
