Course Objective
This program will provide participants with the tools and processes available to locate and correct commonly recognized hazards as well to understand and identify potential hazards so as to allow effective employee involvement and corrective action as part of the safety and health process.

Skills Learned
From this course, participants will be able to understand and apply the following as part of their workplace safety and health activities:

  • The OSHA Guidelines and attributes of excellence for hazard control
  • The nature of hazards and where they come from
  • Rules for personal hazard awareness and avoidance
  • Techniques and approaches to hazard identification and discovery, including expert surveys, change analysis, design for safety, hazard analysis, Job Safety Analysis (with workshop), workplace inspections, and safety trends analysis
  • Techniques and approaches to hazard control, including the hierarchy of controls, OSHA regulations for hazard control, and an introduction to ergonomics and personal protective equipment
