Juan Contreras, the 2007 Hispanic Business Person of the Year, and owner of Juan and Maria's Empanada Stop at the pubic market, will treat the family members of area US service men and women to free 'empanadas' on September 16 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Juan, who has two of his children serving in Iraq and has been sending thousand of empanadas to the troops, is asking the participating families to register by Sept 15 by calling 303-1290 or online at www.empanadastop.com. Fabricio Morales, CEO of FM Office Express Inc. named as "Buffalo District Minority Small Business Person of the Year" by the U.S. Small Business Administration. He started his business in Buffalo in 1995 before moving to Rochester in 1999. Fabricio Morales is the 2006 RHBA Hispanic Business Person of the Year.

 

Manuel Rivera Ortiz

Manuel Rivera-Ortiz is the 2007 Arts Awards recipient for his extraordinary photographic work. Rivera-Ortiz, a photo documentarian who focuses his work on images of people of the Third world countries, is the first Hispanic artist to receive this award.
