Sandy Parker
Sandy Parker, president and CEO of Rochester Business Alliance, presented a package of proposed tax cuts to the Division of the Budget in Albany, NY Tuesday. Parker spoke on behalf of Unshackle Upstate and the more than 32,000 upstate businesses represented by the coalition's 60-plus partners.

Holiday Jam Attracts a Crowd
Holiday Jam - Dec. 11The Rochester Business Alliance's Business After Hours - Holiday Jam drew a crowd on Dec. 11.

More than 300 members and non-members registered for the event, and the room filled quickly once the doors opened at 5 p.m. Vendor tables lined the perimeter, full to capacity with member companies offering their services and even prizes.

A buzz filled the room over the holiday music in the background as attendees enjoyed the networking, hors d'oeuvres and prizes.

Suzanne Seldes of Rochester Business Journal won two Air Tran tickets and Kim Rasmussen of Pullano & Company won tickets to the Dec. 23 Buffalo Bills game against the New York Giants.

JOBSapalooza 2008, set for Jan. 3 at the DoubleTree Inn, 1111 Jefferson Road, Henrietta, offers employers the opportunity to recruit interns as well as new full- or part-time employees from a pool of students, upcoming graduates and area college alumni seeking to stay in the region.

Final Bills Tickets Winner Announced
Buffalo BillsDan Ross, vice president/controller of Ecovation, Inc., won tickets to the last Bills home game on Dec. 23  against the New York Giants. Ecovation, Inc. ranked No. 1 on the 2007 Rochester Top 100.

Ross won three tickets for seats in the One Communications Club at Ralph Wilson Stadium. He was chosen in a random drawing from 723 employees of Rochester Business Alliance member companies.

This season, the Rochester Business Alliance raffled off seven sets of tickets for seats in the One Communications Club. Members watched the game from a climate-controlled suite and enjoyed buffets and in-seat servers. We look forward to bringing our members this benefit again for the 2008 NFL football season!
2007 Member Survey Results
Results are in for the Rochester Business Alliance's annual customer satisfaction survey.  Ninety-six percent of respondents indicated that the Rochester Business Alliance is either meeting or exceeding their expectations, compared to 95 percent in 2006.

Defense Authorization Act Passed

The National Defense Authorization Act (H.R. 1585) has passed the House and was approved by the Senate on Dec. 14, 2007.  President Bush plans to sign the legislation into law within the coming days.  The bill will expand the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA).

The ATHENA Award is presented each year by Women's Council, to recognize local women for their professional and personal contributions to the Rochester community.

Jackie Kallen, author, speaker and boxing manager whose life story was portrayed by Meg Ryan in the Paramount Pictures production, Against the Ropes, will be the keynote speaker at the luncheon.

Date: Thursday, Jan. 24
Time: Noon
Location: Rochester Riverside Convention Center
Cost: $550 for a table of 10/ $75 per person

Informational Meeting Jan. 24
