BAHThe Rochester Business Alliance's most popular Business After Hours networking event - the Holiday Jam - is scheduled for Tuesday, Dec. 11 at the Rochester Riverside Convention Center. Attendees will have a chance to win door prizes.

The Holiday Jam features a Business After Hours Mini Trade Show as well.

2008 "eat well. live well. challenge" Draws Interest from 65+ Companies

At an informational meeting held this morning, more than 65 companies met to learn more about the program and to enroll for 2008.

This 8-week wellness program, designed by Wegmans Food Markets, uses a fun, simple challenge to encourage more physical activity and healthy food choices.

Representatives from any company interested in participating in the challenge may contact Amy Moyer at (585) 256-4627 for more information or to enroll. 
 
Rochester Black Business Association Announces Affiliation with the RBA
BAHThe Rochester Black Business Association (RBBA) announced at its annual Showcase and Luncheon last week that it had formed an affiliation with the Rochester Business Alliance.

Rochester Business Alliance Vice President Barbara Cutrona said the partnership will help the groups work toward the common goal of helping local businesses grow.  

The affiliate works to foster and maintain an environment for black businesses to develop and prosper. It provides assistance to existing businesses and aspiring entrepreneurs through advocacy, identifying resources and working to establish and maintain mutually beneficial relationships between black businesses and majority business concerns. 
RHBA Christmas Party - Dec. 14

The Rochester Hispanic Business Association invites members and their guests to its Annual Christmas Party. Come enjoy traditional hispanic music, food and refreshments at Casa Hispana at Nazareth College.

Time: 5 - 8 p.m.
Admission:  Free for RHBA members / $5 for guests of members

Sixth Bills Tickets Winner Announced
BAHBill Poray claimed his tickets from the latest Bills Tickets Raffle and is excited to take his wife and two daughters to the game this Sunday against the Miami Dolphins.

Poray, a manufacturer at Delphi, won four tickets for seats in the One Communications Club at Ralph Wilson Stadium. He was chosen in a random drawing from 722 employees of Rochester Business Alliance member companies.

Members have one more chance to get in on the action. We'll be a holding raffle for the home game against the New York Giants on
Dec. 23. This raffle has proven to be our most popular member benefit yet, so watch your e-mails for details on the start of the last raffle.
Most Gift Cards Included as Employee Income
In early 2007, the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) released a revised employer tax guide to fringe benefits, which included changes to de minimis benefits.  A de minimis benefit is any property or service employers provide to an employee that has so little value that accounting for it would be unreasonable or administratively impracticable.

IRS Raises Mileage Rate for 2008
On Nov. 27, 2007, the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) issued the 2008 optional standard mileage rates used to calculate the deductible costs of operating an automobile for business, charitable, medical or moving purposes.

The ATHENA Award is presented each year by Women's Council, to recognize local women for their professional and personal contributions to the Rochester community.

Jackie Kallen, author, speaker and boxing manager whose life story was portrayed by Meg Ryan in the Paramount Pictures production, Against the Ropes, will be the keynote speaker at the luncheon.

Date: Thursday, Jan. 24
Time: Noon
Location: Rochester Riverside Convention Center
Cost: $550 for a table of 10/ $75 per person
Sponsorship: $750 to be a patron sponsor (includes signage and recognition at event)

JOBSapalooza returns Jan. 3
After a highly successful and well attended 2007 event, the JOBSapalooza returns, a career fair that seeks to match the region's employers with the best and brightest of our local college students.
 
JOBSapalooza 2008, set for Jan. 3 at the DoubleTree Inn, 1111 Jefferson Road, Henrietta, offers employers the opportunity to recruit interns as well as new full- or part-time employees from a pool of students, upcoming graduates and area college alumni seeking to stay in the region.

RBA Hosts Trip to  China -
Informational Meeting Jan. 24 (new date)
The Rochester Business Alliance is leading a visit to China and invites you to come experience Beijing, Suzhou, Hangzhou and Shanghai over a 9-day tour. Click here for the itinerary for the trip.
